Hi there! My name is Natasha Sills, and I am the indie dyer behind Gritty Knits.
I learned to knit from the book Stitch ‘n’ Bitch by Debbie Stoller in 2004, and I was obsessed right from the start. I wanted to learn every new technique, try every yarn, make every pattern. It wasn’t long before I was crocheting, designing, spinning, and dyeing too.
About me personally: I live in Houston with my husband, 4 cats, and 1 dog. (Don’t worry; they’re locked out of the yarn room.) In addition to fiber arts, I love photography, sewing/quilting, and I'm an avid reader.
Here is a list of the places, events, and publications you might know me from:
Ravelry - my library of pattern designs
Houston Fiber Fest - I am a founding board member and vendor.
DFW Fiber Fest - I have been a vendor there since 2012.
Ply Away - I have attended several times as a student. 2022 was my first year as a vendor.
Ply Magazine
Spinzilla - 2017 Rogue Champion; I spun 56,342 yards of yarn in 7 days
Other fiber festivals - I have vended at Yellow Rose Fiber Fiesta, Fiber Christmas in July, and Kid 'n' Ewe in the past.
